A summer oasis by www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk

With summer well and truly underway here in the UK, I'm looking forward to joining Harry in our little oasis for some quality "me time". However, with two pre-pubescents, 10 of their most excitable friends, a footie goal and a full size trampoline in the garden next door, a private area is rapidly becoming more of a necessity than a nicety!

Time for Operation Secret Garden!

The Makings of a Secret Garden by www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk

Whilst not my favourite people (and not just for failing to warn us of the local summer camp) OneandSeventy's previous owners did at least have some nice ideas, even if they weren't always well executed.

Garden Makeover: creating a summer oasis with www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk

During those dark days of 2013, when our purchase of OneandSeventy took FOR EVER, it was daydreaming of summer in our new garden that kept me going.

Now that summer is finally here, I'm realising those dreams and spending as much time out here as humanly possible.

I cannot lie… I'm writing this post from the comfort of my sun lounger. All I can hear are sparrows and starlings fighting over the fat balls, our make-do waterfall bubbling away (the subject of a future makeover, so watch out for that!) and the fish making "slap slap" sounds as they feed on the algae.

Go li'l fishes, go!

Master Bedroom Makeover to please the senses - www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk
Welcome to our boudoir! Oooh err!

Whilst 'The Tour' is a veritable given for visitors, I must admit that inviting the digital world and his mother into our bedroom does feel a little weird!

But here goes...

How to clean decking by www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk

As I impatiently awaited the start of the World Cup, I busied myself with a seriously overdue job.

While the sun beat down on what turned out to be the hottest day of the year so far in the OneandSeventy garden, I pulled on my wellies, retreated under the rim of my cowboy hat and hooked up the jet washer – a much appreciated loan from friends.

Just be grateful I have saved you from that eye-burning image!)

Guest Room Makeover - www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk

Save those unforeseen, yet nevertheless inevitable, additions and re-arranging of "stuff" (oh! and a new light fitting!), OneandSeventy's Guest Room makeover is pretty much complete.

After a stunning transformation from Fairytale Castle to Cool Monochrome, it was time to accessorise. If you missed it, you can catch up on the story so far here and here.

When I first visualised this primarily black and white room, I knew it needed a pop of colour to bring it alive. IKEA's funky Bollkaktus curtains were perfect. So much so, that Beloved drove 200 miles and braved "The Nasty Shop" not once, but twice to buy these babies! (Translation: it pays to check product availability before setting out! Sorry darling!)
