I'm not what you might call a talented pastry chef. In fact, you could say I'm pretty pants! I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but every attempt I've ever had at making pastry has ended up in the bin.

Resigned to the knowledge I shall never become the next Lorraine Pascale, I've long concluded that readymade pastry from the chiller cabinet is a perfectly acceptable alternative. From shortcrust to puff, all the hard work's done for you.

I was decidedly clap-happy to discover Jus-Rol's 'Bake-it-Fresh' range. From Apple Danish to Croissants, all you have to do is shape it and bake it.

Bloody marvellous!

Beloved is rather partial to Cinnamon Swirls, so it was inevitable these babies would end up in our shopping basket.

Oh. Em. Gee! Are they ever scrummy!

And the smell... 

mmmmmmmmm!

For a moment, I almost imagined myself a contender in the Great British Bake Off. Although I think Mary might have something to say about my shortcut.

And possibly my sugar icing technique.

Ah well.

They might not be the prettiest pastries in the world, but they were pretty nice. Less than 15 minutes in the oven, they're also super quick to make – once I figured out how to 'unroll' the pastry from the tin!

Bit of a Krypton Factor moment, there.

I have to say, I was impressed. These Cinnamon Swirls made a quick and tasty breakfast treat and I'll definitely be picking up more from the range.

    Mmmm...they look scrummy. Cinnamon swirl pastries take me back to childhood holidays in Greece! Will have to keep an eye out for these on the supermarket shelves.

    They were really nice. To make them, you cut them into 6. I think next time, I might cut them into 4 and make bigger ones! :-)
