Tasting the Grain

Caol Ila 30 year old Old & Rare Platinum selection | www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk

Happy Friday! And welcome back to a very special edition of Tasting the Grain.

It's been a while since I last posted about my whisky tasting exploits, but that doesn't mean I haven't been trying anything new. Far from it.

(As anyone visiting from Facebook or Instagram will attest!)

Fear not fellow whisky lovers, I have quite a few drams under my belt just begging to be shared and there are plenty more coming up. So strap yourself in for The World of Whisky according to Suzy Homemaker!

Tasting the Grain: Whisky Shop Exclusives by www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk

Welcome back dram drinkers! I have gone ALL WEEK without a whisky and I am gagging!

More importantly, it's been over a MONTH since my last whisky post, so goodness knows you must be in need of a hit to calm your Tasting the Grain DTs! Just make sure you wash it down with a glass of something golden!

This latest edition features six whiskies that can only be bought at The Whisky Shop. Just as well I'm a member of the W Club then, or I might have missed out on sampling these!

Loch Fyne Premium Scotch Whisky

We were welcomed with a glass of Loch Fyne. If you've been reading the blog for a while, you'll remember this isn't the first time I've had the opportunity to try this whisky.

A Whisky World Tour - by Suzy-homemaker.co.uk

The really great thing about W Club whisky tastings, is not just the chance to experience fabulous whiskies.

It's not even being greeted like an old friend by the wonderful staff at The Whisky Shop in Trentham.

The really great thing about W Club whisky tastings is meeting new people.

A recent "Whisky World Tour" attracted a larger than usual turnout, with many new faces and Beloved and I hit it off straight away with Pop and his best buddy, Paul.

Tasting the Grain: BenRiach with www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk

I've been so busy recently, I'm only just getting around to writing about my latest whisky tasting adventures.

Disgraceful!

But fear not, whisky fans, I would never forget you! ;-)

Beloved and I spent my Birthday among new friends at The Whisky Shop in Trentham, where we tasted bottlings from BenRiach's three distilleries.

Ooooh. Temptress. It's MY birthday in 2/52. Mmmmmmmmm.

Whisky Tasting with www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk

As I look forward to World Whisky Day on May 17th and to discovering BenRiach at the next whisky tasting (which, coincidentally, happens to fall on my Birthday… RESULT!), here are my tasting notes from April's event.

For the first time, the guys over at The Whisky Shop in Trentham focused on blended whiskies. As Manager, David, explains, "it's an area we hear lots of opinions about, good and bad." So he, along with colleague Lee (who also happens to be my trusty photography assistant!) wanted to showcase the quality art of blending and treat us to some of the best examples they have in store.

With prices similar to that of single malts, one can assume that distilleries take their blends very seriously.

I'm a fan, are you?
