Easy song lyrics canvas DIY

DIY Song Lyrics Canvas | www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk

If you're looking for a unique and very personal gift for your Valentine, you can't go far wrong with something homemade and a piece of artwork that features words from your special song is very romantic.

When I bought a metre-long canvas from my favourite Buy/Sell/Swap Facebook site, I had no idea what I was going to do with it. It was cheap, so I bought it!

After months of leaning against a wall in my office, I finally decided it was going in the Master Bedroom, but that was about as far as I got. I still had no clue what I was going to use it for. It was then that Beloved made the brilliant suggestion of making a bigger version of my Glittering Canvas to use as a bedside light.

Oh how I heart that man!

Review: eFRAME custom picture frames

Gallery Wall by The World of Suzy Homemaker

I always think pictures make a home, don't you?

Beloved and I enjoy having our own photography and creations on display, so when I was approached by online custom picture framer eFRAME to experience the company's service first hand, I was only too happy to oblige.

With such a huge variety of custom and ready-made frames on offer, my choice wasn't an easy one and the company's new Print & Frame option made my job even more exciting! Using the online tool, I had loads of fun uploading my own photos, to see how they'd look all framed up and ready to hang.

What a great gift idea that is!

Upcycled Charity Shop Art by www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk

A few months back, I spotted a fabulous pair of matching gold picture frames in a charity shop, that I thought would look gorgeous as part of my ongoing master bedroom makeover.

Although tempted to keep the vintage peonies they housed, I really wanted to use the frames for my own artwork.

Autumn Mantel

Autumn Mantel by www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk

With each turn of the yearly wheel comes a great swathe of seasonal decorating ideas. Pinterest or Instagram users cannot fail to have noticed all the wonderful images of Autumn's influence in the home.

If you've been following along with my ramblings, you'll know that I like to decorate my mantel for each of the ancient festivals, such as Ostara (Easter) and Samhain (Hallowe'en).

But since launching The World of Suzy Homemaker and my ever-increasing use of the word "pretty" (!), I've also had a hankering for updating my mantel with the Seasons.

Even more so since my recent fireplace surround and mantel makeover!

DIY 3D mache letter wall art

3D Mache Wall Art by www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk

Even before The World of Suzy Homemaker was so much as a twinkle, I could be found in the aisles of Hobbycraft, searching for bits to play with, as Beloved trailed forlornly in my wake...carrying the basket!

These days, the baskets have wheels, but Beloved's "HELP ME!" expression remains.

You gotta feel for hubby, right?

It was during one such long-forgotten expedition, that I discovered mache letters and ever since I brought them home, they've been staring at me from the corner of my office, challenging me to do something with them.

Happy Birthday OneandSeventy!

Happy Birthday OneandSeventy! www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk

I can hardly believe a year has passed already since Beloved and I bought OneandSeventy.

As I look around, I spy with my critical eye SO much that still needs doing to make this house our home. But I also see areas of progress.

Slow progress, but progress nevertheless.

Just because you didn't, doesn't mean you can't

August has arrived (not that you'd know it)

August by Lord Byron - www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk

With the rain lashing down outside on this murky and overcast Friday, one could almost be forgiven for thinking it WAS winter… not the first day of August!

Maybe Byron had a point.

Still we English are so used to a soggy summer, we almost didn't know what to do with ourselves these past couple of weeks when *gasp* the sun actually shone and we had temperatures soaring into the late 20s.

Wow! It was positively tropical!

London calling

So...

I had planned to publish the latest in the series of Tasting the Grain posts today but I, erm…
well I got distracted!

Whoops!

I promise I'll post it soon.

Instead, I've spent a lovely couple of hours playing on Photoshop, which has resulted in some brand new artwork.

What DO you do with your time???

/blog/tags/tag/Time_good11.jpg

Have you noticed how when you meet people, one of the first things they want to know is how you spend your time?

"What do you do for a living?" (Translation: "Do you earn more money than me?")

"What's your role"? (Translation: "Is your job more glamorous than mine?")

"What DO you do all day?" (Translation: "Are you a fully paid up, useful member of society, according to my terms?"
