Easy song lyrics canvas DIY

DIY Song Lyrics Canvas | www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk

If you're looking for a unique and very personal gift for your Valentine, you can't go far wrong with something homemade and a piece of artwork that features words from your special song is very romantic.

When I bought a metre-long canvas from my favourite Buy/Sell/Swap Facebook site, I had no idea what I was going to do with it. It was cheap, so I bought it!

After months of leaning against a wall in my office, I finally decided it was going in the Master Bedroom, but that was about as far as I got. I still had no clue what I was going to use it for. It was then that Beloved made the brilliant suggestion of making a bigger version of my Glittering Canvas to use as a bedside light.

Oh how I heart that man!

Upcycled Charity Shop Art by www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk

A few months back, I spotted a fabulous pair of matching gold picture frames in a charity shop, that I thought would look gorgeous as part of my ongoing master bedroom makeover.

Although tempted to keep the vintage peonies they housed, I really wanted to use the frames for my own artwork.

DIY 3D mache letter wall art

3D Mache Wall Art by www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk

Even before The World of Suzy Homemaker was so much as a twinkle, I could be found in the aisles of Hobbycraft, searching for bits to play with, as Beloved trailed forlornly in my wake...carrying the basket!

These days, the baskets have wheels, but Beloved's "HELP ME!" expression remains.

You gotta feel for hubby, right?

It was during one such long-forgotten expedition, that I discovered mache letters and ever since I brought them home, they've been staring at me from the corner of my office, challenging me to do something with them.

Guest Room Makeover: accessorising

Guest Room Makeover - www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk

Save those unforeseen, yet nevertheless inevitable, additions and re-arranging of "stuff" (oh! and a new light fitting!), OneandSeventy's Guest Room makeover is pretty much complete.

Yay!

After a stunning transformation from Fairytale Castle to Cool Monochrome, it was time to accessorise. If you missed it, you can catch up on the story so far here and here.

Curtains

When I first visualised this primarily black and white room, I knew it needed a pop of colour to bring it alive. IKEA's funky Bollkaktus curtains were perfect. So much so, that Beloved drove 200 miles and braved "The Nasty Shop" not once, but twice to buy these babies! (Translation: it pays to check product availability before setting out! Sorry darling!)

Master Bedroom Makeover: changing colour

Master Bedroom inspiration

While the cat's away, the mouse will...

... PAINT!

As someone who manages accounts nationwide, Beloved does a lot of travelling, which includes several overnight stays a month. Sometimes, (though thankfully, rarely) work also takes him away at the weekend.

When he was recently required to work a four-day exhibition in London (Boo!), it gave me the opportunity to make over our bedroom (Yay!)

Guest Room Makeover: the fairy wall

Like so many UK homes, the last of OneandSeventy's three bedrooms is a 'box room'. You know the type... it once housed the hot water tank, features a slope to accommodate the top of the stairs, and has just enough room to swing a cat.

(Not my cat, obviously.)

After having already designated the second bedroom 'office first, visitors second', the box room has become our main guest room, complete with double bed.

It was never my intention to decorate this room first. I always thought I'd crack on with the living room or even the hallway and stairs. But with a weekend visitor about to descend and having been totally inspired by the perfect Pinterest find, I jumped right in. (Translation: Cutting my teeth on a small room was probably wise!)

As Pinterest followers will attest, I'm rather partial to a bit of monochrome, but I doubt even I would've ever braved a black feature wall had it not been for this photo.
