Finger lickin' spicy barbecue chicken | The World of Suzy Homemaker @SuzyHomemakerUK

It's July and the sun is shining. That can mean only one thing...

It's Barbecue season! Whoop! Yay for al fresco dining!! (Even though Beloved hates it.)

If you're planning a barbie this weekend, I have the perfect recipe for you. More aptly named "Nicki's Kickin' Chicken" (try saying THAT after a few margaritas!), I shamelessly stole this dish from my friend Nicola who served it during a girlie get-together for the final of Ultimate Big Brother #UBB.

Apple Crumble Tray Bake by The World of Suzy Homemaker

It's almost the weekend! Yay! If you're a Sunday Roast kinda person and looking for a pudding to follow this week's lunch, then you've come to the right place!

I happened across this recipe on Good to Know when I was looking to use up my glut of baking apples. However, being the patient sort (ha!) I couldn't be doing with all that waiting around for layers to bake. So, I pulled a Suzy Homemaker and combined this recipe with my Best Apple Crumble in the World Ever (no, it really is!). Hey presto! Success!

My Apple Crumble Tray Bake also makes a perfect dessert for anyone who, like me, doesn't really do Christmas fayre.

Whether you mark the changing of the seasons meteorologically like the weathermen, or astronomically like our ancestors, September means one sure thing to us all...

Autumn! (Or "Fall", for those across the puddle.)

Here in the Northern Hemisphere, the passing of mid-September's Autumn Equinox means the days are getting shorter and the nights are starting to draw in. Even on sunny days, there's a nip in the air. But, with the end of summer comes big, fat, juicy fruits... ripe and ready to pick.

For me, nothing represents the autumn harvest quite like the mighty apple!

Weight Watchers friendly pasta carbonara | www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk

As a returning Weight Watcher, I am always on the look out for recipes I can adapt.

Whilst not the cheapest on points, this delicious Cheat's Carbonara attracts far fewer points than its calorie-loaded cousin; perfect for a weekend treat. Serve with a lovely zero point salad to make it even more filling!

If you have the points, why not make it a feast? Treat yourself to a glass of wine (points variable) and share a Sainsbury's Be Good To Yourself Garlic Bread for 6pts per half a baguette.

WeightWatchers Chicken Stir Fry by www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk

With summer just around the corner, thoughts are turning to shedding a few pounds. If you're working on your bikini body, my Weight Watchers-pointed recipes might be just the ticket!

This is a great stir fry, which I adapted from an old WeightWatchers 'Your Week' recipe from way back. The original beef version is also scrummy, but I like to use chicken to keep the points down.

Weight Watchers Pro Points: 9pts per person PLUS any additional points for oil

Need fewer points? Halve or even leave out the noodles altogether - plenty of zero point veg makes this a very filling dish without them and it'll SAVE you up to 4 pro points!

How to make the perfect baked potato - www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk

Periodically, I have tried and failed (spectacularly on occasion - as anyone who attended our 2012 Fireworks party will attest!) to produce the perfect baked potato.

Until now.

Oh BBC Good Food, how I love thee!

  • Grab a large potato.
  • Pre-heat the oven to 200C/400F/Gas 6.
  • Wash your spud well. Dry it (make sure it IS dry!) and prick with a fork.

I discovered this recipe in the instruction manual for the KitchenAid Ice Cream Maker. Whilst the ice cream maker itself may soon be history, I did manage to make a note of the recipes before we returned it!

This recipe is delicious and definitely rivals any good quality, commercially made vanilla ice cream. You might want to check the quantities but otherwise, I feel sure you can use exactly the same ingredients whichever method you use for turning your batter into ice cream.

I love soda bread. My sometimes gluten-intolerant tummy loves soda bread. And as luck would have it, soda bread is REALLY quick and simple to make.
