A Whisky World Tour - by Suzy-homemaker.co.uk

The really great thing about W Club whisky tastings, is not just the chance to experience fabulous whiskies.

It's not even being greeted like an old friend by the wonderful staff at The Whisky Shop in Trentham.

The really great thing about W Club whisky tastings is meeting new people.

A recent "Whisky World Tour" attracted a larger than usual turnout, with many new faces and Beloved and I hit it off straight away with Pop and his best buddy, Paul.

Tasting the Grain: BenRiach with www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk

I've been so busy recently, I'm only just getting around to writing about my latest whisky tasting adventures.

But fear not, whisky fans, I would never forget you! ;-)

Beloved and I spent my Birthday among new friends at The Whisky Shop in Trentham, where we tasted bottlings from BenRiach's three distilleries.

What with both our Birthdays AND our Wedding Anniversary, May is a big month here at OneandSeventy and to celebrate, Beloved and I like to take off for a week. It's become something of a tradition to retreat to the forest and we can usually be found hiding out in a log cabin run by Forest Holidays.

Whisky Tasting with www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk

As I look forward to World Whisky Day on May 17th and to discovering BenRiach at the next whisky tasting (which, coincidentally, happens to fall on my Birthday… RESULT!), here are my tasting notes from April's event.

For the first time, the guys over at The Whisky Shop in Trentham focused on blended whiskies. As Manager, David, explains, "it's an area we hear lots of opinions about, good and bad." So he, along with colleague Lee (who also happens to be my trusty photography assistant!) wanted to showcase the quality art of blending and treat us to some of the best examples they have in store.

With prices similar to that of single malts, one can assume that distilleries take their blends very seriously.

I'm a fan, are you?

Ah… Whisky. Oh glass of golden gorgeousness!

I guess you could say I'm rather partial to a wee dram.

It all started in Amsterdam, when I happened upon a peaceful courtyard garden and the decadent pleasure of great coffee, accompanied by a shot of Jack Daniels. From there, I migrated onto whisky without an e, otherwise known as Scotch and in particular, single malts.

I now have a rather fabulous whisky collection, which may soon require expansion to a second shelf!
